Interior Design Blog Review

Interior Design Blog Review

This week in interior design class, we created a blog to show all of our personal styles and designs we love. An interior designer would use a blog for many reasons. It gives them an easy way to send out there ideas on what they can do or designs that follow their trends they are into. Its also a great way for them to get out there to get people attention to get business. Lots of people blog and if someone sees a good trend by a designer, they are able to contact them for help or for them to come do there home.
Looking through the top 100 interior design blogs, i was able to find 3 cool blogs that have great ideas that follow my trends. The first blog I visited was www.homedesignfind.com. Home Design Find is a web blog for home design and home products. It covers almost everything from furniture, kitchens, baths, living rooms and more. It shows alot of designs featuring some contemporary products mixed with the Mediterranean look that I love. Here is a picture of my favorite post on this blog with the great soothing colors of blue, and the golds along with the contrasting color of the sand colored couches. The tropical wood shelf/table also brings out the fun beachy look.

The 2nd blog i found was on www.houzz.com. Houzz is a place that you can search any kind of style you like and get pictures of homes with that design. It is also a very easy way to connect with others to show inspirations and ideas. The best thing about this blog is you can search whatever style you want, so I looked for a Mediterranean room and found this amazing bathroom that perfectly fits my style with the wood, colors, and textures used. Its everything I would do in my home.

For my last blog i went onto www.dwell.com. Dwell is an actual design group that shows off there designs through this website. They have a huge variety of designs for any kind of style. For the last picture I chose an again that has the beachy, tropical feel using wood and the cool rock feature on the walls. The tans and browns are what makes these rooms the best for me.

Out of the 3 blogs i went on, houzz.com was for sure my favorite. you could search anything in the search bar and get hundreds of homes with that design or pattern in it. The 2 coolest trends I saw on these blogs were the modernized areas and then the tropics area. Blogs are a great and easy way to get out your designs and ideas to get other people involved with each other.

Mood Board

mood board

Reflection

This week in interior design, we were learning about how to use olioboard.com to create a mood board full of real time, fashionable products that can express what we like and who we are. A mood board is an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to  project a particular style or concept a person can have. Interior designers especially use mood boards in their profession for their clients to express the styles they like or vice versa so the designer can give the client some ideas on what to do. My mood board depicts my personality and style because I used a little bit of bright colors mixed with the dark. The darker shades represent my calm, cooling personality. The modern presentation of lighter grays and sleek decor brings that out for a calm feeling in the room, where the bright and tropical colors brings out my love for warmth and peace. The Mediterranean look using rustic wood, wicker, palms, and lighter beach colors makes any room feel peaceful and relaxing. The two put together make a great combination not only just to feature my personality and what i like, but also go hand in hand with each other with the colors contrasting with each piece matching with a different one. The HGTV quiz we took said I have a sleek and streamlined style which goes perfect with the style i did in my mood board. The total cost of my room is around $8,000. I wasn't able to get an exact number because some items were out of stock. In conclusion the mood board is a great way to express ones style and personality using colors and types of fashionable furniture and decor.
